The Gibran Chair at the University of Maryland, (UMD), and the Center for the Lebanese Heritage at the Lebanese American University, (LAU), are delighted to announce that they have been planning for the past several months the third Gibran International Conference titled: Gibran in the 21st Century: Lebanon's Message to the World. In addition, the Gibran National Committee is supporting both the Gibran Chair at UMD, and the Center for the Lebanese Heritage at LAU, in the planning and organizing of this conference. The Conference will be commemorating the centennial (1918-2018) of Gibran's first published English book The Madman.
The conference will take place on Thursday and Friday, January 4th and 5th, 2018 at LAU's Ras Beirut Campus. On January 6th, the international panelists and participants in the conference will visit Ameen Rihani's museum in Freike and Gibran's museum in Becharri.
There will be professors from nine universities and writers from different countries presenting at the conference. The panelists are coming from Lebanon, the USA, Italy, and Australia. The keynote speaker will be Professor Philip Salem, a writer, and president of the Salem Oncology Center, in Houston, in the United States.
The first two days of the conference are open to all the admirers of Gibran. You can join us at LAU's Ras Beirut campus on January 4th and 5th.
